Biography of Dr. David L. Wick

I am blessed to be the grandson of one of the best chiropractors the state of Delaware has ever known. Dr. Fred Englert, my grandfather, was a chiropractor who blazed a trail of healthcare unknown to most practitioners of today. During much of his time in practice, the healing art of chiropractic was not yet accepted as being a mainstream health profession. Nonetheless, he practiced with much faith in his chiropractic techniques and saw tremendous success. He practiced with enthusiasm into his seventies. Even then, his patients would still call him and urge him to come back from retirement.

I am very grateful for the efforts of that great man. I’m even more grateful that he did not attempt to influence me to practice chiropractic. He allowed me to discover my own reasons for choosing a chiropractic career.

Because of my own research of chiropractic, I selected it as a career before I even entered high school. My educational decisions in high school and college were all directed with chiropractic in mind.

Why was I so confident in chiropractic? Because it allows practitioners to help patients heal dramatically without the prescription of drugs or surgery. I liked that concept. An ages-old expression within the chiropractic profession is “The power that made the body heals the body.” I fully agree with that explanation. The work that we do at our clinic allows us to see the wonderful healing potential that the body has when blockage of natural healing ability is removed. By removing interference of the body’s natural abilities, I have witnessed many powerful events of healing.
