Feed My Starving Children

"Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor."

--Proverbs 22:9 NLT

When I talk with people about humanitarianism and the big dreams I have for carrying various projects out, I am often asked questions. One of those questions from people is "So what should I do?"

The answer is not the same for everyone. I encourage everyone to seek out what their heart desires.

In my quest, I have found considerable appreciation for a local organization with strong international benefits. Feed My Starving Children was first introduced to me by a service opportunity with my website developers and hosts, Evolve Systems. When volunteering there in 2005, it instantly appealed to me for reasons that have been strengthened during my travels to Haiti. Now, if you visit one of the FMSC sites, you may commonly find me among the volunteers.

When one has had the opportunity to witness levels of starvation firsthand, one realizes that the need is serious. In countries like Haiti, for instance, children search desperately for ways to curb their hunger pains. Some eat dirt, mud or stones. Others dig through garbage to find food scraps. Feed My Starving Children provides a wonderfully refreshing alternative.

marketplace rubbish to find items to salvage.

With several packing sites throughout the Twin Cities suburbs of Minnesota, Feed My Starving Children involves volunteers from a wide variety of cities and even various states. They recently launched a new packing site in Illinois as well.

The mission of Feed My Starving Children is "Feeding God’s Starving Children Hungry in Body and Spirit" and they accomplish this in myriad ways as described through their commitment to excellence:

  • We will follow Christian principles and values to guide and direct our Organization in fund raising, packaging and distributing food to those in need.
  • We encourage people of all beliefs to help us accomplish our mission.
  • We will ensure our food ingredients are of the highest nutritional value to meet the needs of starving children.
  • We will package our food through the use of volunteers to feed the spirit.
  • We will partner with other humanitarian organizations to ensure safe transit and distribution of our food.
  • We will distribute nutritious food to starving children throughout the world who are hungry in body and spirit.
  • We will promote public trust of our Organization through efficient, cost-effective, and compassionate stewardship of our resources.
  •
